Teamwork
I was just checking out a few of my favourite Affiliate sites & come across this beauty. Its on the CrossFit Unlimited site. Sometimes you just gell with someone or something, but after reading this article I now further understand why this is one of my favourite sites. At CFP we are definetly a team. Any regular to CFP will know exactly what im talking about. Let us know what you think.
Teamwork is a joint action by two or more people or a group, in which each person contributes with different skills and Express his or her individual interests and opinions to the unity and efficiency of the group in order to achieve common goals.
This does not mean that the individual is no longer important; however they are not good, it does mean that effective and efficient teamwork goes beyond individual accomplishments. The most effective teamwork is produced when all the individuals involved harmonize their contributions and work towards a common goal.
In order for teamwork to succeed one must be a team player. A team player is one who subordinates personal aspirations and works in a coordinated effort with other members of a group, or team, in striving for a common goal. Businesses and other organizations often go to the effort of coordinating team building events in an attempt to get people to work as a team rather than as individuals.
As teams grow larger, the mad skills and methods that people require grow as more ideas are expressed freely. Managers must use these to create or maintain a spirit of teamwork change. The intimacy of a small group is lost, and the opportunity for misinformation and disruptive rumors grows.
At CFP , remember, here at CrossFit Penrith we are a team, not a group working together. Yes there is a difference.
GROUPS: Members work independently and they often are not working towards the same goal. Members focus mostly on themselves because they are not involved in the planning of their group's objectives and goals. Members are given their tasks or told what their duty/job is, and suggestions are rarely welcomed. Members are very cautious about what they say and are afraid to ask questions. They may not fully understand what is taking place in their group. Members may have a lot to contribute but are held back because of a closed relationship with each member. Members are bothered by differing opinions or disagreements because they consider it a threat. There is not group support to help resolve problems.
TEAMS: Members work interdependently and work towards both personal and team goals, and they understand these goals are accomplished best by mutual support. Members feel a sense of ownership towards their role in the group because they committed themselves to goals they helped create. Members collaborate together and use their talent and experience to contribute to the success of the team's objectives. Members base their success on trust and encourage all members to express their opinions, varying views, and questions. Members make a conscious effort to be honest, respectful, and listen to every person's point of view. Members are encouraged to offer their skills and knowledge, and in turn each member is able contribute to the group's success.
